Camp Barkeley existed for a short time near the town of Abilene, Texas. It began in 1941 and was closed by the Army in 1945, at the end of World War II. In this introduction to the next installment of the History In Plain Sight series, Jay Moore introduces us to the beginnings of the camp and its impact on the Dixie Pig Restaurant, as well as Abilene and the surrounding area.
