Abilene Beginnings

In celebration of Abilene’s 130th birthday in 2011, take a look back at our beginnings and the evidence of those early days which are still visible throughout the city. The Texas & Pacific Railway may have created Abilene, but it was those early families who took this prairie land from birth to infancy to adolescence and nourished it into the thriving city it has become today.
